Right now it is rest and nap time in our house (Melanie rests, but she does NOT nap....you must never tell her it's nap time or she will let you know that!!) but I am listening to my almost 22 month old baby in her crib, singing "Baby, baby, baby, oh! Baby, baby, baby, oh!" over, and over, and over again! SO DARN CUTE!!!!!! Every once in a while I'll hear her go , "Dow, dow, dow, dow" from the song, and I swear I just heard her say "Luda!"
Anyway, while I had a few minutes to myself, I wanted to jot down some of the things that my girls have been doing or saying. We switched the furniture around in Melanie's room, so now she wants to sleep in there! Yay! Her reasoning for sleeping in there: "I want you and Daddy to have Mommy and Daddy time." So funny, so sweet, and so innocent! Whenever she is with one of us by ourselves, it's always "Mommy and Mellie time" or "Daddy and Mellie time" so it's really sweet of her to think of "Mommy and Daddy time."
Melanie has also decided that when she turns 16, she wants Daddy to buy her a pink horsey car (a Mustang, like my old one in our driveway) and I have got to buy her an ipod that she can listen to while she is driving. I asked her who was going to pay her insurance? Her answer? "Mom Mom can pay for my 'assurance'". Thanks Mom Mom!! :)
I made chicken legs stuffed with prosciutto the other night, and I cut all the chicken off the bone on to Meredith's plate for her, and Melanie looked at me and said, "I want to eat mine on the cob." She had to repeat herself about 4 times before I understood what she was saying....she had just eating corn on the cob last weekend, and she wanted to eat her chicken off the "cob" too!!

My "gulls"
Melanie and Meredith both say the word "girl" the same exact way...."gull". If you ask Meredith if she is a boy or a girl, she looks at you and says, "Gull!" (If you ask her if she is a girl or a boy, she says boy...I think she just repeats whatever word you say last!) Melanie is funny, because she even does it when she is singing....there's a Hannah Montana song she loves, and she was just singing it, "Smooth talking, so rocking, he's got everything that a gull's wanting". It is just so funny how they both say it the same exact way!

Missing wedding rings
So, for the last 4 days, I have torn our house upside down and inside out because my engagement ring and wedding ring had gone missing. I knew the last time I had seen them, I had taken them away from Meredith and put them somewhere, but could not find them anywhere. I had gone through every single dresser drawer, every toy bin, every book shelf, under every bed and couch, etc., etc. I have probably spent at least 12 hours searching for these rings. Eric told me just to relax and they would probably just show up one day, and I didn't need to stress out about them. So today, Meredith went down for a nap, Eric took Melanie to the playground, and I started cleaning again. I was still looking for the rings, but I was trying to relax a little bit. I was vacuuming the family room when I looked out the window and saw our big trash can, which will be going out to the alley tonight for pickup tomorrow morning. I thought that I would go look out there, knowing the rings probably weren't there, but I didn't want to chance them being taken away tomorrow morning. So I got on rubber gloves and went digging through a whole week's worth of trash...banana peels, dirty diapers.....just pure nastiness. But I got to one bag, dumped it out, and saw 2 of the girls' bracelets in there that I know I didn't throw away. I kept digging through there, and low and behold.....my rings!!! My little dumpster diver had thrown my rings in the trash.....I am so relieved! I just can't believe if I hadn't gone out to look, they would have been gone forever!! It does make me wonder what else has been thrown away.... :)
Baby, baby, baby....
One of Meredith's favorite words...."baby". She has her baby that she has to sleep with every night, she calls her Aunt Lulu "Bay bay" (she kind of sounds like Johnny Bravo when she says it that way) and her new favorite song is "Baby" by Justin Bieber. I think she likes it because she can sing along with it! We were driving in the car the other day, and she was sound asleep. I mean, passed out, head flopped over to the side asleep. She was exhausted. So, we were listening to Radio Disney, and all of a sudden, "Baby" comes on the radio. I peek in the rear view mirror, and she popped up and was dancing and singing! It was so funny! After the song was over, she looked like she was about to pass out again, but I think she was too hyped up to fall back asleep from her song! It was hilarious!!
Melanie is a riot with this song, too......except she not only sings the Justin Bieber part, she also raps the Ludacris part! "When I was firteen, I had my first love, and I was starstruck....." and she even does it with Luda's accent! SO FUNNY!!

Daddy's birthday present

We have been getting the house painted and fence stained and garage fixed, so I decided it was time to make the bonus room more user-friendly! Since our house is 75% female, the girls and I decided to make the bonus room "Daddy's room". We told him he wasn't allowed up there until we were done, and we put together shelves, put up all of Daddy's Georgia stuff, got everything all nice, and it looks AWESOME (if I do say so myself!) We wanted to do this for Daddy for his birthday, but we got a really good deal on the shelves and we decided to give it to him a little early so he could enjoy it!
Soccering

Melanie started her soccer class on Saturday, and she was so excited she could hardly sleep the night before! She was so funny, because all she kept talking about was "soccering". "Mommy, what time am I soccering tomorrow?" Her class starts at 9:00, and when I was in the shower at 8:00, she was banging on the door wanting to know if it was time to go! She had her clothes picked out at 3:00 Friday afternoon!!
We got there at 8:45, and she froze! I felt so bad and so frustrated because she was so excited before, and after a little while, she got out there and she LOVED IT! She kicked and ran and hit a soccer ball with her head, and she loved having David out there with her. It was so cute because every time he and Melanie weren't next to each other, he would pick up his spot and move it next to her! So sweet!!

Unbelievable...
We are wearing shorts today....woohoo! I think we are finally done with the cold weather! I pulled all of Melanie's old clothes out for Meredith for spring, so she is wearing a pair of size 24 months shorts today. So I go into Melanie's drawer, where she had some shorts that she wore last summer, and grabbed a pair and she put them on. I looked at the tag on them......they are also size 24 months!! And they are still a little bit big in the waist! My little skinny baby!
Easter eggs

We dyed eggs with the girls last night after Eric got home from work (which took too long for Melanie tonight, because she sat at her little Elmo table staring out the front window looking for him!) Anyway, the girls had a blast dying eggs, Melanie was very careful and loved mixing colors, and Meredith just basically threw them in the dye, and we quickly went through the 2 dozen eggs I boiled. She also tried to eat them with the shell on (both before and after they were in the dye!) It apparently wasn't enough for Meredith, because she went digging through their kitchen and found a play egg, which she threw in to the pink dye cup! It was so cute and so sweet, and I think she is just so smart to have quickly thought of her play eggs!
