Cheers!

Meredith has started doing "Cheers!" with us every single time she has a drink, and it is really, really cute because she does it to everyone around her at least 5 times before she will actually take a drink! It made me think back to when Melanie was her age, she would do the same thing, but Melanie wanted to "Cheers!" everything! I remember specifically the one time that we had band aids on our fingers, and we had to "Cheers!" our band aids together. Or, whenever we were eating, we would have to "Cheers!" our spoons or forks together. WE had to do it with ice cream, crackers, shoes, shirts, cell phones, etc! It was really funny....I don't even remember when she stopped doing that!

My self esteem (or lack there of....)

Melanie has a way with words lately. It started with our skin. I was putting my moisturizer on one morning last week, and she came in and asked why I was putting that white stuff on my face. I told her it was because my skin was older than hers and I needed to put lotion on to make my face smooth. Well, now every morning when I put it on, she comes in an says, "Mine and Meredith's skin is young and smooth. Yours is just old." Awesome. She also did that with our hair....."I have the most beautiful hair in our house Mommy. Yours is kind of icky." Fantastic. Then, the other night, she came up and asked, "When I get older, will I get BIG hands like you?" I thought that was cute, until she asked me, "When I get older, will I get a BIG booty like you?" Thanks a lot, Mel. Then, this morning, as I am getting dressed, she came up to me and said, "Meredith and I have such cute, nice clothes. Your clothes aren't cute." Aren't kids great???? :)

Our little Stinkerbell....

We still have a few weeks before Meredith officially hits 2, but since she is SO advanced, she has hit the terrible twos early! She will only wear "ca car" jammies, sometimes all day because she will literally refuse to take them off, I have to put her in a pully-up at night because she has been ripping her diapers off and peeing all over the place, (I have been using pink duct tape to keep them on, and she DOES NOT like it!) and pitching these massive fits wherever we go, whenever she doesn't get her way! (I know, I know, she is just like me, wants her way right away, I have no one to blame but myself for that!!) She has been doing it a lot at the pool, when she doesn't want to wear her monkey. I'm sure I look like a crazy person to all the other people at our pool, when instead of consoling her I just take her picture because it's to the point where I just think it's funny! Yesterday at Target she threw a water bottle off the shelf and refused to pick it up....I stood there with her for a good 20 minutes while she was screaming, and she just REFUSED to pick it up. The only reason we left was because someone who works there came by and picked up the bottle when I wasn't looking. God made her extra cute for a reason!

Silly Bands

Well, we had a good run before the girls discovered what Silly Bands are. I had to take Meredith to the doctor last week and the doctor gave her a few of them because she was such a good girl. She came home and shared them with Melanie, and now they are officially the coolest things in our house. Well, Papa was off work last week, and Melanie went over to hang out with Mom Mom and Papa last week when I had to take Meredith home for a nap. She convinced them to take her out to buy her more Silly Bands. Papa gave her 2 pennies, but told her that they wouldn't get her very far. They went to Walgreens and found her bracelets. Melanie went up to pay for her bands, slapped the 2 pennies on the counter and looked at the lady and said, "This won't get you very far." Oh my goodness....she is so funny!

Ah, the inappropriate songs my child knows.....

Melanie LOVES music. She has since before she was even born.....I mean, I went to a few concerts while I was pregnant with her, and it would take me hours afterwards to fall asleep because she would be dancing inside me!! The first few weeks after she was here, I had to have Kenny Chesney's "You Save Me" on repeat every time we rode in the car just so she wouldn't cry. Also, Melanie has an amazing memory. She has recently been discussing things that happened before Meredith was born, which was 2 years ago already, when she wasn't even 2 years old yet!! The love of music and the amazing memory combined have created a sort of embarrassing situation for me, because she hears a song once and knows most of the words. For example, her new favorite song is "Tik Tok" by Ke$ha. (Gotta love the dollar sign in the name.....it's a symbol of class......) Anyway, we were at our softball game last week, and she was on the bleachers talking to her friends, and all of a sudden she starts singing, "Everybody getting crunk, boys trying to touch my junk, gonna slap them if they're getting to drunk" (I think those are the words, she knows them better than I do!) Okay, now I know she doesn't know what all of that means, but when other kids are singing "Old McDonald" and she's talking about her junk, it creates a wee bit of embarrassment for Mommy!

This one is funny...as I have written before, Meredith's favorite song is "Baby" by Justin Bieber, and Ludacris has a part in it, too. Well, the other night, we were out driving around, and heaven forbid, I forgot my ipod. (I am such a bad mommy.) Anyway, we found "Baby" on Star 94 in the car the other night, and Melanie was not happy about it. Star 94 skipped over the part that Luda sings. Melanie huffed and puffed from the backseat, and said, "No Luda??? This is a messed up song...." and then complained about it the rest of the way home. I really don't think she is 3 years old......if this is 3, I am scared to think of how she's going to be at 13!!

Meredith's new words....

I love this.....whenever you ask Meredith where she's going, or where she wants to go, she looks at you and says "Shopping." It's her new favorite word, and I hear it at least 50 times a day! We also learned last night that she knows how to say "ice cream". We were at the pool, and Eric was trying to get Melanie to swim across the pool, and he told her that we could go get ice cream if she did it all by herself. Well, Meredith was in ear shot, so for the next 15 minutes, all we heard was, "Dada, ike ream. Dada, ike ream. Dada, ike cream." Melanie never swam across the pool, but we still got Daddy to go get us "ike ream". It's funny, because Melanie didn't say "ice cream" until just recently....she used to call them "kimmies". Mere also just randomly starts singing, "Baby Oh! Baby Oh! Baby Oh!"

We went up to Babyland General Hospital on Sunday, and also made a stop at Anna Ruby Falls. The girls hiked the half mile trail up and down almost all by themselves, and when we got back to the car to drive home, they were both "crashed asleep" in the words of Melanie!
