Melanie's 1st Softball Game!!!!!!!

I am one proud mommy right now!! Melanie had her first softball game ever yesterday, and she did AMAZING!!! She was the lead off hitter of her team, and as she walked up to the plate, she looked so nervous! I had the regular video camera, and Eric had the small digital one, and we were both taping. What we weren't really expecting was Melanie hitting the very first pitch thrown at her! She got a hit on her very first at bat on the very first pitch! She started to run towards 3rd base and her coach had to redirect her and remind her to throw down her bat, but she did so awesome! She got up to bat 3 times, got 2 hits off of pitches, and had to use the tee once, and did good in the field after Coach Jason told her to start running after the ball! It was about the cutest thing I have ever seen. Melanie also had quite a fan base there....it was me, Daddy, Meredith, Mom Mom, Grandma, Grandpa, Bobby, Lulu, Tommy, Noah, Bethany, Ms. Kristen and Mr. Ben (Papa was there through the phone....he was up in Chicago taking care of Great-Grandma Wesley).

At the very end of the game, the coach got all the girls together and gave a little speech about someone who did a fantastic job of hitting and running and of going after balls in the field, and then he gave the game ball to Melanie!!! How awesome is that, Melanie getting the game ball for doing such a great job at her very first softball game?!?!?!?!

Mani-pedis!

Eric, Melanie and Meredith are all attending the Father-Daughter dance in Harmony on Friday evening, so tonight, the girls decided they needed to have mani-pedis after their bath tonight. Well, it took Melanie at least a half hour to pick out what color she wanted, and I had to pull out her dress so she could lay all the nail polishes down to see which pink matched the best, and Meredith was dressed from head to toe in ca car jammies! I loved that I had to give my little girl a manicure and a pedicure while she wears her Cars!

Thank you, Mommy!

We can add this to the cute column.....Melanie was sitting in the bathtub last night, and she looks up at me and says, "Mommy, thank you for marrying the daddy that I have." Oh my word!! My heart just melted. She is so darn sweet!

And both of them have started this....when they really want something, they look at us and say, "Please? For your sweet girl?" (or in Meredith's case, "Pweez? For your sweet gull?") And they also trade out the word "sweet" for other words like "good", "beautiful", "pretty", etc. They make it next to impossible to say no!

We know we are biased, but.....

....we have the cutest children on the face of the earth. Right now they are running around in their "Snug as a bug" ladybug jammies (which I HAD to buy for them today, because every night when I tuck them in, I have to say, "Snug, as a bug, in a rug!" or I hear about it!) taking our orders and scribbling on notepads, pretending they are waitresses and cooking us food in their kitchen. Meredith just keeps saying, "Comin wight up!"

Anyway, I have 2 specific stories in mind when I say they are the cutest....I'll start with Melanie. Her hair is getting pretty long, and it is always tangled, so I bought a brush today that doesn't seem to pull as much when I brush it for her. We used it tonight, and it didn't hurt her, so she gave me a hug, smiled and very seriously said, "Thank you so much for my brush, Mommy. When I leave here and have my own kids, I am going to take this brush with me." SO sweet!!!

And....Meredith. Or, if she was reading this, she would correct me and say, "NO! Call me Merefitz!" We went out shopping for girl pants today, so that we would hopefully be able to start using the toilet more, and none of the girl girl pants were acceptable. So we had to go to the boys side and she got so excited because she found what she wanted.....ca car girl pants. Yes, I had to buy my sweet little girl a pack of boys' Cars briefs. On the way home, she was super excited to start using the toilet, and wearing "a keen" which is Meredith-ese for "Lightning McQueen". When we got home, she looked at me and decided that she would just look at them, and just "Wear dem to the new ca car movie dis summer". What a little sneak!
