Go Cougars!
Well, Melanie's first season as a softball player has wrapped up! She improved so much and we are so proud of her, and we were so very lucky to have such a wonderful coach this year! Coach Jason was super patient and kind, and he always had the nicest things to say about Melanie, and he was very genuine when speaking about her. She always reminded him to do "GO COUGARS!" at the end of every game, and I think that was one of her favorite parts of the whole game. We had her team party last night, and she got a very cute bobble head trophy, and she can't wait until fall so she can play for Coach Jason again. I am so glad that she had such a great first season!!
Mother's Day
I have to admit, even though I complain about being tired and the house always being messy, and all the noise sometimes, I LOVE being a mommy. It's not even being A mommy, it's being Mommy to the 2 most precious girls in the world. I couldn't imagine life without the I love yous every day, all of the hugs and kisses, asking every morning if I will lay with them at night, and being genuinely concerned that I might say no, even though I lay with them every night. Or Meredith screaming at me for some juice, or Melanie rolling her eyes at me and saying, "FINE!" The fighting over who gets to bring me a diet coke in the morning and who gets to sleep in the most comfortable part of our bed (which somehow always happens to be the spot that I happen to be laying in every time.) This is by far the best thing I have ever gotten to do in my whole life, and I am so blessed to have two such wonderful little people call me Mommy.
Riding a two-wheeler!
Melanie can ride her bike without training wheels! She decided last week she didn't want her training wheels anymore, so Eric took them off, and with a little practice, she was off! I can't believe my baby can ride a big girl bike!!
Melanie's ballet recital
I love watching Melanie do ballet every week at her class, but at her recital this year she was just so beautiful! She got up and danced and did everything she was supposed to. I was so, so proud of her, especially since she missed recital rehearsal because she was sick! She looked so beautiful and grown up doing her dances...I can't believe next year at recital I will be watching 2 ballerinas!!
Eric's 30th Birthday!
I think I am having a more difficult time with Eric turning 30 than he is! We were both 18 years old when we started dating, and now he is 30...which means in less than 9 months, I will be 30! Ugh.....I guess you are only as old as you feel....so I guess that makes me about 65?? Haha, in all honesty, I still feel like a teenager most days.....and I know my taste in books, t.v., and music all reflect that feeling! I sometimes really have to think about what my age is when people ask!
Anyway, back to Eric's birthday.....we had an absolutely FABULOUS day! We woke up, dropped the girls off at my mom's, and we headed up to the mountains. We stopped for the breakfast of champions (fresh fried apple pies at the apple place off of 575....YUM) and then went skeet shooting. That was my first time shooting, and although I did terrible, I had a blast driving the golf cart through the mountains (especially downhill!) Eric was really good, and I loved seeing the clay targets he shot just get shattered! We went to lunch at a restaurant that is half in Georgia, half in Tennessee which was pretty cool, and then headed down to the Brasstown Valley Resort where we were staying. We got checked in, and then headed down to the spa where we had massages. Now, Eric had never had a massage before, so he wasn't really looking that forward to it, but he LOVED it! I have never, ever seen him so relaxed before! After that, we went to a yummy dinner at a nearby restaurant, and then headed back to the resort for the hot tub and pool! So much fun!
The next morning, we did breakfast and started heading back home for Melanie's last softball game, while almost running out of gas (I really can't believe Eric has never run out of gas before.....he really pushes it!!) and made it to the park in time to see Mellie play. After the game, we headed home and made Daddy's run cake for his birthday. Of course, we had to open up presents, which consisted of a new grill, Perry the Platypus girl pants, a new seersucker shirt and pair of shorts, and of course, 2 hand painted and fired bulldogs made by the 2 sweetest girls ever! Melanie said hers was Hairy Dawg, while Meredith named her bulldog Charlie from her favorite story, "Little Bulldog, Big Dreams." It was such a nice little celebration for a great husband and daddy on a big birthday!
