We grilled out last night, and big props to E-Dawg, it was delicious!
Apparently, part of a burger fell on the ground, and Eric swears he didn't put it back on the plate...
ANYWAY.....our Mellie girl happened to get part of that burger. She took a bite, and looked at us and said, "My burger tastes hard....and tingly!"

Our busy day!
Yesterday we had a very busy but fun day! Eric and I ran our first 5K down in Atlanta, and we actually made it! My time was 35:51, and his was, as he said, "41 and change." But we did it, and that's all that matters!!
We also got to go to the Fire and Ice Gala at the Cobb Galleria for Eric's work. We got to get all fancy and dressed up, and we had a ball! E even bought me some earrings through a silent auction and too much to drink but they are beautiful and I love them! Happy early Mother's Day to me! :)

She wears her sunglasses at night...
This was possibly one of the most random nights ever!
Meredith would not go to sleep, so I pulled her in with Eric and me to try and calm her down, and, yes, I'll admit it, I was pooped and wanted to lay down in my own bed. It was around 11:00 at night, and she pops up from in between us, gets off the bed, and heads for the stairs. Eric asks her, "Where are you going?" and she gives him this 'Duh, Daddy' look and says, "I going down to get my sunglasses." We were both too tired to fight it, and let her go. She comes back up about 5 minutes later with their Hello Kitty container of crayons and a Christmas Winnie the Pooh coloring book. I said, "I thought you went for sunglasses!" and I get a 'Duh, Mommy' look and she says, "I feel like coloring instead. It feels like a good time to color."
Not so much, kid!! We took away the crayons and coloring book and she screamed until she fell asleep.

What am I going to do with you?
My conversation with Meredith the other day:
"Meredith, what am I going to do with you?"
Without missing a beat:
"Love me forever."
She's right!

Easter
My girls love holidays. Sunday was Easter, today is Tuesday. Yesterday (Monday) I was sitting downstairs when I hear a scream "MOMMY!" "What honey?" "WHAT HOLIDAY COMES NEXT??" I just started laughing and said "Mother's Day." No response. I guess that didn't go over too well!!
We had a great Easter. Went to early mass, breakfast at J. Christopher's with Mom and Dad, then home for egg hunts and Easter baskets, and relaxing. We did dinner with Mom and Dad, too, but it was just a nice relaxing day.
I have to mention all of the funny things the girls did leading up to Easter. They REALLY got into the egg decorating. And by really getting into, they literally GOT INTO THE DECORATING. I think if the cup was big enough, Meredith would have climbed in and bathed in the dye. She put her hands in so many different colors, she came out black. Literally, the color black! And I was really glad we were at home when she said that, because it was not a racist statement at all....if you had taken a black crayon and put it next to her skin, it would have matched. Melanie was a little better, but when she saw what fun her sister was having, she got kind of messy, too.
When we decorated eggs at Mom Mom's, someone said it was time to decorate eggs, and in a matter of about 3 seconds, Meredith had stripped down to her underwear and shouted, "Color eggs, time to get SNAKED!!!"
Melanie was pretty funny, too. She went to her friend Lauren's house and decorated eggs with sequins and all sorts of cute stuff that Mommy is too lazy to do! So that night in the bathtub, I found a sequin glued in her hair. She looks up at me and says, "Yeah, I accidentally glued a sequin in my hair." Wow....
Why Mommy?
Melanie is acting so grown up lately, she just floors me with the questions she asks, because they are so deep for a 5 year old. She amazes me! We were driving around in the car the other day and out of the blue she asks me, "Mommy, I know Christmas is Baby Jesus' birthday. So why are we the ones who get presents? That's not fair to Baby Jesus!" WOW....what 5 year old questions why you get presents on Christmas? I tried to explain it to her as best I could, that we celebrate Baby Jesus being born, and since we can't give Him presents, we give each other presents to show our love and to honor and celebrate Baby Jesus' being born. As I was explaining this, I realized that I am 30 years old, and I never once really thought about why we give each other presents on Christmas. I always knew it was to celebrate Jesus, but never to the extent that Melanie (at 5 years old!) did!! I am so blessed to have her in my life!! I think we did the right thing sending her to St. Michael's this year, because it has really deepened her faith and knowledge, but mine as well!! I told Eric that I think she may grow up and become a nun because of her thoughts and actions and questions, and he laughed and said, "That's every dad's [who has daughters] dream!"

Freckles
While we were at the stations of the cross tonight at church, Eric remembered something that I completely forgot about! (This is why I keep this blog....because if I didn't, I'm afraid I would forget every single cute and funny thing my girlies do!) Anyway, while we were walking around, I was carrying Meredith and E looked at me and said, "Do you remember how mad she used to get when we would call her 'Freckles' (with all the freckles on her nose)?" I had completey forgotton about that, and I couldn't find a blog post about it, so I had to mention it tonight. It also made me remember how everytime the wind blew in Meredith's "hair" when she was a baby, she would start shouting, "I cold! I cold!"
She's so funny, and getting big so fast! She's so cute with her "piggy tails"....any time someone touches her head, she has to reach up and feel that her piggy tails are still there! It's taken the poor baby almost 4 years to get that little bit of hair, so I guess I would be upset if it got messed up, too!
