Wow.....what a Christmas!! I don't even know where to begin with this one....
Let's see. First of all, we had 2 little monkeys in our bed at 2 a.m., singing and dancing. Meredith was doing her little dance while singing, "Baby I like it!" (Nothing says Christmas like your 2 year old singing Enrique.) Eric and I looked at each other, and we knew that they were not going to go back to sleep, so we decided to let them go downstairs and open presents. Well, Santa brought their car, so they were THRILLED!! We had all the presents open by 3, and well, to put it nicely, I felt like Santa and his reindeer had repeatedly run over my head and chest in their sleigh. I felt awful. "Luckily" I made breakfast to just pop in the oven on Christmas Eve so I wouldn't have to do it on Christmas morning. So I went back to bed, and Eric put breakfast in the oven. Well, the next thing I know, he comes up and tells me that the breakfast leaked out on to the heating element and started a fire....it was in the oven, but it was so high that the flames were coming out of the burners, so he had to use the fire extinguisher to put it out. (I did not know how much stuff came out of fire extinguishers, but it was a HUGE mess.) So by 4 a.m. on Christmas morning, we had opened all of the presents, plus put out a house fire.
We got the girls back to sleep after that, and I woke back up at 7 to make myself some tea. I didn't realize that the breakfast had leaked all over the burners when Eric pulled it out of the oven, so when I used the kettle, it started smoking, setting off the smoke alarms for like 15 minutes, waking Eric and scaring the you know what out of him (the girls slept right through it).
Thankfully, the rest of our day was pretty uneventful except for all the SNOW! We had a real white Christmas, and it was amazing. I couldn't go out in the snow, but Daddy took the girls out sledding with Bobby, "Rafalella", Lulu, Tommy, and Mom Mom, and they had a blast! It did turn out to be a wonderful Christmas. :)
