The Royal Wedding

So I didn't quite wake up at 4 to see all the royal wedding events, but I got kicked in the stomach around 6, so I decided to get up and see what was going on and what the dress looked like and everything. So I am sitting downstairs, watching t.v., and Melanie comes down, pops on my lap, and says, "That guy looks like a chicken." She was talking about the guy who was officiating the wedding (I'm not sure what they call him). Leave it to Melanie to point that out.....he really did kind of look like a chicken!! And then she decided that Kate looks like her ballet teacher....I need to make sure to tell her teacher this because I am sure she will take it as a compliment!!

Playing games

I love playing games with my girls, mainly because it is just so darn funny! Melanie has this Hello Kitty Bingo game we play all the time, and whenever she gets Bingo, she gets really excited and shouts out "GUMBO!!" She can never remember what word to say so it's super funny. She also calls the game "Uno," "Emo" which is really funny as well! Another good one is Guess Who? Melanie has the Disney version, and she and Eric were playing the one night while I was out painting. I came back, and she was passed out on the couch, and Eric was laughing and telling me about the game they played. I guess she was so tired, her questions weren't making any sense....for example, she asked him if his person was a girl, and he said yes, then on her next turn, she asked him if his person had a beard! At the end of the game, she asked him if his person was the Genie Aladdin, because that was the only one she had left flipped up after all the questions, and his person was Mary Poppins.....I don't think she could have possibly mixed up 2 more different characters! So funny!!

Happy Eastertime!

This is what the girls say instead of just "Happy Easter"....it's "Happy Eastertime!" We had a great Easter this year....got up early and went to church, then went to IHOP for breakfast, and we came home to hunt Easter eggs! That silly bunny even put eggs on the trampoline! It was just a nice, relaxing day!

We also did our 2 egg hunts on Saturday, and the girls had a ball. I love the ages they are at right now....everything is so exciting to them!

My classy ladies!

Sometimes I wish I could tape the conversations I have with my children, just because they are so darn funny, and yet, they don't even realize it! Meredith was running around earlier today spitting, or so I thought. So I said, "Meredith, don't spit. That's yucky....nice girls don't do that!" and she looks at me, completely serious, and says, "I not spittin' Mommy. I jus makin' toot noises wif my mouth." Really!?!?!

So then she and Melanie are playing a game on the floor later that same morning. At this point, Meredith is completely naked (I have no idea why, when, or how that came about) and Melanie was throwing something across the room to have Meredith go fetch it. She would run over on all fours, pick up the thing with her mouth, and run it back over to Melanie. (Yes, I do have this taped on my video camera.)

I just don't know where they come up with this stuff!!!!

Wow....

So....Melanie pulls me over earlier today says, "Thank you for loving me, Mommy." That just made my day, week, year, etc! So sweet and so cute, and it made me feel so incredibly good!

"I just.....want.......my pony!!!"

Ahhh Meredith. We have gotten her almost completely potty trained in 6 days! WOOHOO!! I say not completely just because at night she sleeps in a pull up, but in my mind, she's potty trained because that doesn't count. (In all honesty, I would rather her wear a pull up instead of waking me up 6 times a night to go to the bathroom. Yeah, I know that's bad of me, but I love me some sleep!!) ANYWAY.....once she went poo poo on the toilet, Mom Mom promised to take her out for a toy. So Wednesday morning, she hopped on the toilet, went to the bathroom and ran out screaming that we had to call Mom Mom! All Meredith wanted was "a little pony." So we went to Wal-Mart and she picked out a My Little Pony set that had about 3 ponies in it. She was so excited, we went home and she played with her ponies all day, took them jumping on the trampoline, brought them in when we took bath, and then it was bedtime. And we had a missing pony. The yellow pony was nowhere to be found, and we had a very distraught little girl. So we began the search. Melanie and I were downstairs searching in and under all the couches, all the bins and drawers in the playroom, and we even checked in 2 of Meredith's favorite places, the pantry and the refrigerator. No yellow pony. This all started around 9:30, and the 3 of us were searching for this pony while she just stood at the top of the stairs in her Tangled nightgown, holding her blanket and her other ponies, just pathetically whining..."But I just.......want.....my pony!" It was one of the saddest things I have ever heard in my life! So I asked her, "Meredith, do you remember the last place you had your yellow pony?" "Yes Mommy.....I had my pony in my hands!" Thank you very much for all of your help, Mere!!! :) At 10:30, we gave up with the promise of looking again in the morning, and if we couldn't find it then, we would go back to Wal-Mart and get another yellow pony. I still have no idea where in the world that little girl put her first yellow pony! We had to go back to the store and get a new one...I guess if we ever find the original one, we now have a back up!

Potty training

Well, I tried to wait until she was ready to start using the bathroom, but I could see that wasn't happening anytime soon with Meredith. I couldn't be so lucky as to have 2 children who potty train themselves, so the other day I just decided it was time. Meredith was not happy because, as she screamed, "I LOVE MY DIAPEY!! I LOVE MY DIAPEY!" I felt terrible and almost gave in to her, but I am really glad I didn't because we are well on our way to being completely trained! She has had a few accidents, but she is doing so well. She tells me when she has to go, and most of the time she makes it to the toilet before it's too late. The only downfall is she now has a secret weapon against me, and she now knows that I will drop everything I am doing the second I hear that little voice say, "I need to go pee pee." Meredith even figured this out when she is going to bed at night. Last night she sat on the toilet for 45 minutes saying she had to go pee pee (and she went a couple times, but I knew it was mostly because she didn't want to go to sleep yet!) It's crazy how quickly they grow up!

Bad words

I will admit it.....bad words probably slip out of my mouth more often than they should. I don't do it intentionally, but when I get smacked in the face, or get rammed into the counter, or I trip over a room full of toys, something slips. I had such a slip the other day with Meredith. Something happened, and I accidentally said "Oh sh*t!!" So all of a sudden, I hear my little 2 year old parrot running around screaming, "Sh*t! Sh*t! Sh*t, Mommy, sh*t!" Uh oh.....so considering the fact that she was saying this less than a half hour before we were supposed to leave for church, I decided to have a talk with her. This is how the conversation went:

Me: Meredith, that is a very bad word. Mommy shouldn't have said that, and I don't want you to say it, either.

Meredith: Okay, Mommy. I no say sh*t no more. I say damn it instead. Damn it! Damn it! Damn it! It ok I say damn it instead Mommy?

(This is the point in the conversation where I just sort of drop my head into my hands because, 1. I'm ashamed that my baby talks like this, and 2. I don't want her to see me laughing.)

We discussed how damn it isn't a nice word, either, and thankfully we made it through church without and major incidents. I have become VERY careful about my words around that little munchkin now, too!

Gotta love having girls.....

Having little girls is always interesting. In the same day we can go from ballerina to softball player, from princess tea parties with Daddy to playing with monster trucks, from manicures with Mommy to fishing with Daddy. They are just too funny! When we were out to lunch today, Melanie was sitting there in her polka dot dress, going on about her softball game tonight. She proceeded to ask me if she gets to wear her "team outfit" tonight to her game. I said, "You mean your softball uniform?" and she said, "Uhh, yeah, my team outfit!" I love that it's an outfit!!! These 2 are never boring!!

Video of Melanie's first hit!

I tried to attach this to the original post, but couldn't get it to work the right way, so here she is!
It's a little bouncy because Daddy got just a tad excited when Melanie got her hit, but I think that makes it even cuter :)
