The Melanie and Meredith store

So, here in Atlanta we have what is known as Mommy's favorite store....we call it the Melanie and Meredith store. It's actually Northside Hospital, where the girlies were born, but they only know it as "The Melanie and Meredith store." Every time we pass it, they get all excited, and we usually joke with them about going to return them or exchange them, and they laugh. Well, yesterday when we were driving by there, Meredith was asleep in the back, so Eric asked Melanie, "Should we take Meredith back to the store and return her?" and Melanie just laughed. So on our way home, we passed by there again, and we hear Melanie telling Meredith, "When we drove by here before, Daddy wanted to drop you off for a refund, but I said no because you are the best sister and I love you." Eric and I look at each other and he says, "Aww, that was sweet. But she didn't really say that earlier, and she threw me under the bus to Meredith. But it was still sweet!"

The "Fadder-Daughter Dance"

That's how the girls say "father" and it is so cute! E took the girls to the dance Saturday night, and he raised the bar pretty high because he got them corsages and he wore a tux. Yeah, the last time he went out with me in a tux was probably at our wedding! :) They had a really good time, and Daddy loves taking his girls out on dates!

Just plain cute...

I have been subbing at Melanie's school a lot the last few weeks, so Meredith has been going and spending the days that I work at Mom Mom's house, and she loves going there during the day....so much so that she will ask me if I am subbing, and if I'm not, she gets upset! She likes going over there because she gets to play on the iPad by herself without having to share with her sister, and she likes that she gets to eat coffee cake in the mornings for breakfast. It's the simple things, right??

So when I went to pick her up from my mom's the other day, my mom was telling me that Meredith saw a "white rainbow" in the sky. I wasn't quite sure what that was, by Meredith looked up at the clear sky and said, "No more white rainbows." The white rainbows are clouds.....how cute is she???

Our crazy, crazy girls.....

Now, I know I have said they are crazy before, and I don't know where they come from, etc., etc. But I am to the point where I really don't know where they get their material! Case in point:

Scene: The bathtub, last night, around 7 p.m.
2 little girls, splashing and playing together. The conversation all of a sudden turns "serious".
Meredith: "Melanie, who is your boyfriend?"
Melanie: "Juhhh.....Juhhhh.....Juhhh....."
Meredith: "Justin Bieber?"
Melanie: "No.....Juhhhh....Juhhhh.....Juhhh....."
Meredith: "Joshua?" (a boy in Melanie's class)
Melanie (embarrassed): "No, I didn't say Joshua....I said.....Boshua!"
Pause......
then a very serious Meredith: "Well, is he a nose picker?"

WHAT IN THE WORLD?????? Number 1....where did she come up with THAT question? Of all the things you ask about someone, you ask if he's a NOSE PICKER? Number 2.....I pray that their standards go up by the time they have real boyfriends....if the only thing you are going on is whether or not a guy picks his nose.....I'm not going to lie, I'm a little afraid at the quality of boys that would be coming home to meet us if that's all they are concerned about!!

The BIG 3-0

I'll admit, up until this week, I was having a hard time wrapping my head around the thought of me turning 30. I know I'm not the first one to turn 30 (E has been 30 for 9 months now) and I know I am not going to be the last one, but 30 just seems so old to me! I started thinking about that, and I decided that it was a good thing that 30 still seems old to me, because hopefully that means I will always be young at heart. And also, the music on my iPod, the shows on my DVR, and the books on my Kindle are those that a 17 year old would have (I said that to Eric, and he said I was giving myself too much credit. Haha honey....you are hilarious!)

Then, when I was working at Melanie's school, I was talking with one of her teachers, and she was telling me that she didn't have a problem turning 30, because she did so much in her 20s, she didn't feel like she had to rush to do anything. I'm really glad she said that to me, because I started thinking, I am turning 30, but I have been married for almost 8 years to a great guy, so no regrets there. I have 2 beautiful, healthy baby girls. We have a lovely home (not just a house, a home) that we have lived in for almost 7 years. I have wonderful family and friends. I accomplished a lot in my 20s, and now I have my 30s to enjoy it all. The one big difference is the car I drive...when I turned 20, I was driving a Mustang. Today I turn 30, and I now drive a mini van (and I am not ashamed to say that I do love the van. It's just awesome with the kids.) I don't have to worry about getting old and trying to date to find someone good enough to marry. I don't have to rush to have kids because I am getting older. I am finally in a place where I am physically and emotionally happy with my life, and I just feel good. So 30....BRING IT ON!! :)

Our proper girls

So while we were out birthday shopping this weekend, we were in an antique store where Melanie found a stuffed Miss Piggy that is just like one that my Grandma and Grandpa Wesley had bought me when I was little.

So of course, with their recent love of the Muppets, it had to come home with us. The girls were very good at sharing "Mrs. Piggy". Not Miss Piggy, Mrs. Piggy. It is so funny how they call her that! Eric said I shouldn't be surprised, with how proper they are when they speak of the Grinch.....he is known in our house as "Mr. A Grinch".

Wow.....

We have been super busy in the Rein house.....between school, work, swim, ballet, etc., etc., we have barely had time to sleep!

I have tried to jot down some little things that the girls have said and done. Meredith is on a roll lately....Mom Mom asked her what she wanted to be when she grows up, and she looked right at her and said, "Nufing. I not gonna grow up!" When I asked her about it later, she told me she was going to be a "gluten fee cookie baker." Speaking of gluten free and Meredith...she is so sweet with Melanie and me about being gluten free. She won't eat anything with gluten in it when she's around us because she says "If I do, I can't kiss you!" SO SWEET!! She is also super funny with her po's. If she has piggy tails in and you walk up and twirl them, she automatically puts her hands up to make sure her piggy tails are still in her hair! And BIG NEWS for the goose.....we got her registered for preschool at St. Michael's for next year!! What happened to my babies???????????

Melanie is doing just awesome. I have been subbing at her school the last 2 weeks and it has been great to see how well she is doing in school. Her handwriting is improving dramatically and she just amazes me with everything she does. We got her signed up for softball again, so that will be starting soon!! She had Dad's day at school yesterday, and she informed her daddy that he could not wear a tie because "A tie is way too classy for a catholic preschool." She kept telling him that over and over again because she made him a tie to wear during breakfast! It was really cute, and once I get the pictures uploaded I will put one of the 2 of them up! She also had to answer questions about Daddy, and my favorite answer was what his favorite food was: Tabasco sauce. She didn't even stop to think, she just automatically answered! I would have never thought of that, but when I went home and asked Meredith, she answered, "Oysters and Tabasco sauce." I guess they know their daddy better than I do!!! :)

E and I have been busy, it seems like we hardly see each other! He had a black tie event that he went to last week and he looked pretty spiffy in his tux! I am so proud of everything he does and everything he accomplishes for himself and for us!!!

I just love my E and my girlies so much. :)
